Tracey Bailey

Tracey Bailey launched Biome Eco Stores, one of Australia’s first online lifestyle stores, in 2003 with a mission to be part of the solution to the world’s environmental problems.

For 14 years, Tracey has remained focussed, not on growth and profit, but on building a sustainable business that does “good” for employees, suppliers, community and the environment.

Biome has expanded from online to add four flourishing high street stores, and today employs 55 people.  It’s performance as a multi-channel retailer has been recognised with several national retail industry awards.

Biome measures success by social and community gains as well as financial. In 2017, Biome helped its customers save over 6.7 million single-use items from waste, and became Australia’s first retailer to achieve B Corporation certification.  Biome has also taken a world-leading stand to remove all palm oil from its stores, an initiative that sees the business a finalist in the 2018 World Retail Awards.
